How we handle learner, parent and teacher personal information, including our cookie and child data policies.
Qhesi Tutorials ("we", "us") is an online STEM education platform owned and operated by Qhesi Tutorials (Pty) Ltd in South Africa. We are the responsible party for personal information processed on this platform under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
Learner name, username, email address, mobile number, grade, school, province, profile picture, parent/guardian contact details, subscription and payment status, lesson and video progress, assessment results, live-class attendance and support messages. We also collect technical data such as device type and log data for security purposes.
To create and secure accounts, deliver lessons and live classes, track learning progress, mark assessments, manage subscriptions and payments, communicate service notifications, provide parental oversight and comply with legal obligations.
Our platform serves minors. Where a learner is under 18, registration requires the details and consent of a parent or legal guardian. Parents may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their child's personal information at any time.
Card and banking details are handled entirely by our payment provider. We never see or store full card numbers. We store only the subscription status, payment outcome and receipt references needed to manage access.
We share personal information only with service providers necessary to run the platform (hosting, payments, video delivery, communications) under contract, and where required by law. We do not sell personal information.
We apply role-based access control, row-level database security, encrypted transport, restricted access to private media, audit logging of administrative actions and secure password storage. Credentials and API keys are never exposed in the front end.
Account, progress and assessment records are retained while the account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards for academic-record and legal purposes, after which they are deleted or anonymised.
You may request access to, correction or deletion of your personal information, object to processing, or lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator. Contact us at hello@qhesitutorials.co.za.
